Your parents and your family are disappointed in you because you will very likely never marry or have children.
Most of the people that you are attracted to as a potential mate want nothing to do with you.
As an adult you do not fit in to most social circles because most social circles involve paired heterosexuals. This becomes only more and more the case the older you get.
You have the desire to have children but know that it just isn’t in the cards for you.
You try to have a lasting loving relationship with other homosexual men but they never last and often turn violent especially when you try to get you partner to remain faithful.
Then there is of course the fact that they know that what they do is wrong and that it is potentially fatal, that every casual hook up is a spin of the cylinder in a game of Russian Roulette.
Society does these men no favors by suggesting that their mental disorder is just a different kind of normal. These men need help.
A study like this will receive ridicule and it will be said that it is the majority’s refusal to accept homosexuality that is causing these men to despair.

Judging from the few homosexual people I know they are anything but gay.

Very good post. As I head to 50, my gay friends — who have so many great qualities and have been good friends —are sort of falling apart. It is hard to describe-—but after a steady diet of good times and a few decades of “me me me” - it just seems that they are wearing out from the inside and you can see it their faces now. I am generalizing, of course. But it is a pattern and I am seeing it first hand.
I think this is the basis of all their discontent. They know they are not normal, that their lifestyle is destructive and they deny it. No matter how loudly they protest, they know they are lying to themselves.
The medical profession is a magnet for homosexuals. In my 30 some years, I have known many homosexuals. Perhaps one or two were truly at peace with who and what they were. All the others were bitter, nasty folks.
But of course if a 17 year old wrote a paper on this in high school stating these facts; he would be guilty of “bullying”.
