Newt Gingrich has been inching towards the door over the last couple of days, admitting that tonights Delaware primary is likely a make-or-break situation for his campaign. However, a new poll out today might give the former Speaker some pause.
Public Policy Polling shows that Mitt Romney leads in the state of Texas by a 45% to 35% margin, putting Gingrich within striking distance. Coming up lame in his home state, only 14% of GOP supporters support Ron Paul.
More encouraging for Gingrich, or troubling for Romney, is that the presumptive nominee is trailing the former Speaker 45% to 40% among Evangelicals, a major force in Southern Republican politics.
Gingrich also leads among Republicans under the age of 45.

Had Tom Tancredo already dropped out by March 4 of ‘08?
I live in Texas and will be voting for Newt. But I’ll bet ya anything you want that Mitt wins.
Well, I have been praying and I hope that you, mcshot, and many millions of others have been praying the same thing.
Oh blow it out your b*^t. Your posts are nothing but ‘it’s bad news for Newt’. Carry your maggot mittbot water somewhere else. Conservatives aren’t interested in your PRO HOMO baby killing LIBERAL POS candidate.
GO NEWT! Squash the maggot and all his evil ways! If not, barry will be serving maggot meat to the dogs.
Don’t know when Tancredo dropped but that is the results as posted on the SOS webpage.
Ditto that. When Mitt hits Texas, Perry will endorse him. They'd actually make a good team if Perry could get past the beating he took. He'd also be great in the Dept. of Energy. Or maybe in charge of eliminating the EPA.
I can say with absolute confidence that your comments are regularly some of the most vile, disturbed, and nutty posts on FR. The loopy, obnoxious word jumbles you frequently post add nothing to the debate, often make no sense, and for someone claiming to be fighting evil you sound very much like those you claim to oppose. I think you genuinely need mental help, and I hope you are able to seek and get it.
"I think you have to be honest at some point about what's happening in the real world as opposed to what you'd have like to have happened," Gingrich said......today.
The eagle has landed - card arrived in the mail yesterday, so y’all can call off the hounds. I guess I’m a Paulistinian now that Newt has called it quits. Fun times.
