Dershowitz occasionally surprises me. He’s a liberal, but not an ideologue. His position on Israel is strong. His book on counterterrorism was legit and thoughtful. His position on torture in terrorist interrogations is reasoned.

And, now this.

Classically, a liberal was someone who espoused personal liberty, as opposed to state control. The Founders were all liberals in that sense. “The liberal arts” were based on free inquiry and pursuit of knowledge without preconceived strictures. It is only in the past few decades that the term has become perverted into the fascistic PC mold we see today.
