At an event at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, President Barack Obama tried to rouse the crowd by asking for an "amen."
"The fact is that since most of you were born, tuition and fees at America's colleges have more than doubled," Obama said. "And that forces students like to take out a lot more loans, there are fewer grants, you rack up more debt. Can I get an 'amen'?"
The students responded: "Amen!"
Obama continued: “The average student who borrows to pay for college now graduates with about $25,000 in student loan debt—that’s the average, some are more. Can I get an ‘amen’ for that?”
"Amen," the students responded.

I’ve met students who owe over $560,000 between the two, and another student in Theological School owes $132,000. Most kids I know all end up with over $60,000 owed. I don’t think an average is $25k.
You know, I think he really doesn’t know what caused tuition inflation. He’s as ignorant as the kids.

the Occupy movement (so called) bode evil times
are ahead for freedom loving individuals.
There he goes with the “some are paying more” than the average meme like the ad on High School Drop Outs. Yes, some are paying more. Some are paying LESS. Thus the point of averages.
So, rather than do something to reduce the vastly inflated tuition costs, Obama’s answer to have American taxpayers start footing the bill.

My daughter is going to commute to the local state college to get her worthless degree for $7k/yr. She will work part-time to pay tuition, so she can graduate debt-free.
She needs a worthless teaching degree to teach in a Catholic school.
I know the degree is a joke, my daughter knows the degree is a joke, and the college probably does too.
At least it’s relatively inexpensive. 8-P
The student loan deal is another liberal funding program.
Students borrow huge sums at subsidized rates, pay big $$ to colleges for overpriced education.
Schools pay big $$ in salaries to liberal profs and administrators.
Profs and admins contribute $$ to liberal candidates and causes.
And repeat.....
Heh... tuition costs rose as a direct response to available, federally-guaranteed student loan money. Period.
Want to see tuitions come down? Do away with federal money for college.

Unless of course they were like my daughter who has a total of 10,000 in loans. The rest was paid for by her working and going to school
I had ZERO dollars in loans as I worked and ant to school at the same time.
Perhaps it is the laziness of the mutes.
How in the hell do you acquire more than a half a million in student loans?? It says they went to the ‘best’ (make that the most expensive) school for the maximum amount of time and took NO work on the side to help defray costs. It is NOT tax payers responsibility to educate those who are to lazy to work to educate themselves.
