Mandeville, LA Its a bill to amend the Firearms Owners Protection Act, and the historical marksmanship group Project Appleseed, this week on Tom Gresham's Gun Talk® Radio, the original nationally-syndicated radio talk show about guns and the shooting sports.
The Firearm Owners Protection Act, or FOPA, passed in 1986, addressed regulatory reform of the ATF, machine gun ownership, registration, background checks, and interstate transportation of firearms. The last part is the focus of HR 4269, introduced by Representative Morgan Griffith (R-VA). Rep. Griffith seeks to define the types of legal travel, clarify that the act covers both firearms and ammo, and, in the case of prosecution, puts the burden on the state to prove the case, rather than the defendant. More information can be found here: http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/fact-sheets/2012/hr4269firearmstransportation.aspx and here: http://thomas.loc.gov.
Project Appleseeds mission is teaching two things: rifle marksmanship and early American heritage, though the Revolutionary War Veterans Association. Indiana Project Coordinator Dave Goodrich drops by on Sunday to discuss just how this all-volunteer organization operates. For more information, visit http://www.appleseedinfo.org.
Its also the last week to enter to win the Ruger 10/22 TakeDown! Grand Prize includes the brand-new rifle, carrying bag and two BX-25 magazines. Enter at www.guntalk.com/contest.
