She and her husband are two prominent members of the Democratic Party and the political class here in California. It wouldn't be fair to say that all members of the political class in California are drug-addled loons who aren't capable of managing their own lives let alone the 8th largest economy in the world, but it would explain a lot about the shape California is in these days.
