Rubio Steps Back From Earlier Denials of VP Candidacy
By Morgan Little April 22, 2012 WASHINGTON Marco Rubio declined to reiterate previous denials that he might be Mitt Romneys running mate and said Sunday he will "be respectful of the process," a response sure to fuel speculation that Rubio is at least in contention for the No. 2 slot on the Republican ticket.
Appearing on CNNs State of the Union, Rubio, as has been the case since Romney all but locked up the GOP presidential nomination, was asked about the vice presidency by host Candy Crowley.
Im not going to even discuss the process anymore, the Republican senator from Florida said. Im going to be respectful of the process hes [Romney] put in place.
That answer differed from Rubios previous remarks. On April 15, he told CNN en Espanols Ismael Cala Im not going to be the vice president. Im not, and on April 4, Rubio said, Im not going to be the vice president.
Crowley pressed Rubio, hinting that not repeating a denial would only feed speculation. But Rubio stuck with his message.
I think itd be wise for all Republicans to kind of respect that process, myself included, and say moving forward, were going to let his process play itself out, Rubio said.
I think its fair, Rubio said. I think the fairness in it is he has a real process in place the last thing he needs is those of us in the peanut gallery to be saying what we would or would not do.
Nonetheless, Rubio did show some favor to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
I hope hell say yes if future President Romney asks him, Rubio said.

“I retch at the thought of another Bush.”
Absolutely. It would blow my mind if the GOP put another Bush out there now. I’m thinking, “They couldn’t possibly do that”, but they could. If Jeb’s on the ticket, we WILL stay home. Jeb on the Republican ticket is grounds for a serious third party.
Compassion is not costly, you should try it some times.
I agree with how you feel but I don’t know if I can sit this one out.
Just what we need: an infusion of entitlement-minded people who can then legalize the rest of their leech relatives.
How do you know that someone who was brought here by there parents at age 6 and now at age 16 only speaks English is entitlement minded? I suspect some are and some aren’t.
I’m confused. I saw a poll that said the majority of somebody wanted Condi for VP. /s
These DREAM act supporters ARE entitlement-minded, rabble-rousing liberals. They think they have a “right” to become a citizen, and the “right” to a free education courtesy of the taxpayers.
MY white, citizen children will be attending junior college, and working their behinds off to get through college. They aren’t going to be handed admissions, free books, free lodging, and free tuition because of the color of their skin.
“These DREAM act supporters ARE entitlement-minded, rabble-rousing liberals.”
You may consider Marco Rubio an “entitlement-minded, rabble-rousing liberal,” but I can not really agree with that. Seriously, if you have gotten to the point of calling someone like Rubio an “entitlement-minded, rabble-rousing liberal,” you need to stop, take a breath, calm down and re-evaluate.
You were referring to the supposed “students”. So was I.
Actually you said the “supporters.” That would apparently include Rubio accord to a spate of articles this weekend. I am open minded about this topic. I can see the problem it would try to address. I do not see that it would cost the tax payers much if anything. Of course the devil would be in the detail as the Dims would try to include anyone who might support them. Still I most certainly would NOT call Rubio what you implicitly, if unintentionally, called him.
I do understand your concern about who supports it. That is one signal as to whether an action is something the government should do. It is however not the only signal. Though it has been hard to see often in recent years, you can not just be against something because the guys on the other side is for it.
There is nothing compassionate about misleading illegal aliens into believing that lawbreaking and depending on big government for handouts is any way for an American to live.
If you want to be “compassionate”, spend your own money and do it in person. The rest of us have a better sense of right and wrong.
mens rea much? Have you ever been around say a 6 year old?
You’ve been watching too many movies.
Take your socialist anti-American crap back to DU.
Deputize one million unemployed Americans to drive the illegal aliens and their issue into Mexico. Media excluded. Then crush the Mexican drug cartels, Latin Kings, La Raza, et al, and give the wounded 48 hours to scoot to the southern side of the border. Then rescind all the H-1b visas. Fire all the TSA agents. Then we’ll have enough jobs for certified Americans. If that doesn’t get us to full employment, then roundup the Amnesty-lovers and dump them in far southwest Mexico. Then go have a nice dinner at a Cuban restaurant in Little Havana.
‘The big attraction for the left is that he like Obama is NOT a Natural Born Citizen so nominating him gives legitimacy to the Usurper now occupying the White Hut.’
So true!
The sad thing is - so many voters, conservative or R or on the ‘right’, fall for the trap! Don’t they know Rubio is not constitutionally eligible, or could it be they just don’t care?
Do they want to set the precedent, thus completely destroying the Constitution?
WAKE UP! RUBIO IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. THE VERY FACT THAT HE WOULD NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE DESPITE REPEATED REQUESTS SHOWS HE IS NOT ABIDING BY THE CONSTITUTION. HE IS ONLY LOOKING OUT FOR HIS OWN INTERESTS!
Don’t fall for such a politician - timid at best, traitorous at worst!
How else can one explain his silence or outright accepting the VP position?
I am not the one suggesting a big government solution here. You are the refugee from DU who wants more government here. You can only get a smaller government by giving up some of your big government dreams. Well actually we conservatives can, a big government Dim like you won’t apparently.
