.Gov. Brian Schweitzer, talking Friday to a national news website, said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney might shy from talking about his family’s Mexican roots because they came from a “polygamy commune” in Mexico.
Schweitzer made the remark in an interview with The Daily Beast, a news and opinion website, after being asked whether Montana might be a swing state during this year’s 2012 election.
According to The Daily Beast, Schweitzer said Montana likely would vote for Romney, but that Romney, a Mormon, might have trouble nationally because his father, George Romney, was “born on a polygamy commune in Mexico.”
Schweitzer, a Democrat, said later that he wasn’t misquoted, and that his comments had nothing to do with Romney’s faith or his church, which does not condone polygamy.
Schweitzer said he was describing the dilemma facing Romney, who is in trouble with Hispanic voters because “he took an ultra-right-wing position on immigration during the (Republican) primary.”

When did George Romney become a US citizen, he was born in Mexico and came to the US at age seven? was George a citizen before Mits birth?
Good lord, on a Mitt Romney thread after five years of this you think that someone playing games with “no Romney man has ever served the United States as a military man” by pretending that it means any human with the name Romney, is some kind of a big homerun smash of a Romney rebuttal?
Then you want to defend 170 years of his family’s military avoidance (their entire history in America) by telling us that Mitt married in 1969 and his dad was 34 when WWII started, do you know how tired we conservatives are of having to repeat our exposure of Romney to you people over and over, year after year?
Besides the obvious, of Mitt’s father trying to be a war time president while his son is avoiding the draft in France, and then that son, trying to become a war time president, while his five military age sons avoid military service.
There is the fact that conservatives started looking at this odd situation and then discovered that the family has always avoided military service, not that they had physical problems, or skipped a generation or two, but that it was a firm, dedicated family tradition, since the Romneys are dedicated anti-conservatives, it is a disturbing revelation to learn about this record.

Why did you ignore this post? I know why, because it is what Romney supporters do, they have a single minded, relentless agenda of pushing the man, and avoiding challenges.
Actually me and many other freepers here have been blowing the doors off the lying Mitt Romney for many years, we do know his history and his family’s history, we are experts on them.
We post in a more sparse way now because after a half decade of this, we are tired of the long detailed posts, the meticulous sourcing and links, and details, we save that energy for when we meet romneybots that are of a grade that the big guns need to come out.
You have an old sign up date, did you miss the last five years of us exposing Romney, especially 2007 and 2008?
My understanding is that, of the descendants of the Romney who converted to Mormon while still living in England, none of them has served in uniform. Where those Romneys you listed related to Mitt Romney? probably, where they Mormons? I don’t know.
When the families of those who married Romneys are included I am sure you will find some who served in uniform.

Many surviving Roma refer to themselves as “the Romney” Probably meaning the people. Many of them adopted the term Romney as a surname. So yes the Romneys are all related, in some cases going back more than a thousand years. That would be what 50th cousins, not exactly close.
