The eventual "good news" is that Marriott has announced it's phasing out the porn profit.
Of course...after at least 23 years of porn profiteering -- with Romney at its Board of Directors' helm for many of those years -- so much for Romney (& Bill Marriott, CEO) being Mormon men of integrity.
According to David Rosen at ix.netcom.com, "Romney received an annual fee of $25,000 and stock options while serving on the Marriott board. He also received a campaign contribution of $80,000 arranged by J.W. Marriott. Romney left the board position at some point in 2007 but rejoined after the campaign was over. During the first decade Romney was on the board (1992 on)
So, here was Marriott, offering its rooms as the "theater of choice" to the film distributor, On Command Corporation. And even more recently, what has On Command Corporation, which has since become LodgeNet, offered as titles for Marriott? According to this article -- Marriott Boycotted Over Porn -- published in Oct, 2009: The groups [AIDS Healthcare and Pink Cross Foundations] organized a "porn-in" last night at the Marriott on Figueroa Street downtown to launch the boycott. As we speak, the organizations contend, some businessman in a dark Marriott room somewhere across America is watching Just Explicit Sex, Naughty Office Workers, Mothers Do It Better, or Daddy's Girl Takes it All -- titles they say are offered by the chain, titles that feature condom-free sex.
Oh...and Mitt's additional tie-in to ensuring Planned Parenthood has been funded? Well, look who's boycotted Marriott due to $ gifts to Planned Parenthood:
Life Decisions International
Post #35 shows this company expands way beyond just Marriots...it’s a huge conglomerate! As with most of the LDS Investments etc.
I have no doubt some big bucks are “washed” throughout their companys and thru the church itself as it’s secrecy would prevent much if any investigations. Imagine what the globalist could do with the Romney as Pres. and his church “secrecy” in funneling money Internationally!
The eventual "good news" is that Marriott has announced it's phasing out the porn profit.
Yes and No
You have presented a classic example of a situation where the Mormon Church appears to do the right thing under pressure of the public glare ... but upon closer inspection, clearly demonstrates its blatant hypocrisy.
The hotel rent a porn movie business was smashed after the lodging industry was forced by competitive pressure to adopt high speed internet. Why would customers pay, say, $10 for a blue movie for one night when they can log into a porn site and watch trash for free ... or pay the same money more or less as they would for smut and gain access to premium porn content. Many more titles; more perversion; for a month or longer. Therefore, Marriott can proudly announce it's closing its porn distribution operation, thereby belatedly doing the right thing in keeping with the widely heralded moral doctrines of one of its primary owners, the Mormon Church.
What Marriott didn't do, however, was tell the world that their decision was inevitable and was of almost no financial consequence to the corporation. Even worse, Marriott failed to install inexpensive and largely effective software on its servers that blocks access to most porn sites. Guests could still check e-mail messages, get caught up on news and sports, confirm travel reservations, and comply with widely proclaimed Mormon standards of moral decency. But many Marriott customers would take their business elsewhere. And that would cost the Mormon Church money!
So therefore, at the very time that I write this on a Saturday night, at Marriott hotels, motels, inns, lodges, resorts, spas and casinos around the world, people are watching hard core pornography, liquor is flowing, dice are rolling, and bell captains are procuring escorts. And most important, cash is flooding into Mormon Church coffers.
