I absolutely love Free Republic, for it is an invaluable resource for conservatives. However, and no disrepsect intended, why does it require the hundreds of thousands of dollars that are donated every year? I’ve helped run websites and I’m curious to what this money goes to.

Jim, as an activist on a local scale I learned long ago that Free Republic is the best place on Earth to monitor what's happening in the world. A lot of the info we discuss here gets passed on to my personal email list and to other patriot forums.
I pass it to Boortz, Limbaugh and Hannity, and maybe it's coincidence but every so often something I've shared will almost immediately pop on on one of their programs. At least none of them have told me to stop sending stuff.
The liberals know we are here, and they hate us. To me that shows just how effective we are.
I don't want to be popular, I just want my grandson to live free. He is in the Florida Guard and deserves a much better Commander in Chief.

“People read us. Our thoughts and discussions are often linked, quoted, referenced, mentioned or talked about in the media, blogs or talkshows. People come here for news, information and conservative perspective as posted by liberty-loving individuals like YOU and me.”
So very true. I’ve noticed, and I’m certain others have noticed as well.

Ive helped run websites and Im curious to what this money goes to. A lot of it goes to buying beer and pizza for ME.
And cigarettes. There's an allotment for ammunition used
at the range and an occasional trip to the Cafe East buffet.
Why do you ask?

Good afternoon.
Whether assisting in the impeachment of a U.S. president, or preventing the theft of a presidential election, this site has made history.
Not many (if any) web sites can say that.

Limited means these days Jim. But I’ll donate as much and as often as I can. Thanks for FR and for everything you do.

Why donate to FR?
My tagline ( the same one I've had for years ) says why I come here, and the reason why I donate.
No other news forum could ever replace Free Republic!

I donate to FR because I believe in paying my own way. For the most part, I like it here and have for almost 8 years. I don’t care what you do with the money. Unlike the government, you don’t make me give.
It also makes me smile that it gets certain anti-freepers panties in a bunch. They are such children, almost liberal like.

Incredible that I have been a FReeper for 14 years and 18 days. Amazing how fast that went by. Great friends, great adventures.

I’m with you. Let me note that being 100% donation oriented takes the sponsor induced format out of the equation. This is Free Speech 101.

You're why I made an additional donation atop my monthly. The refusal to let the GOP-e turn this forum into their pet slaves to further the liberal agenda. And the day this forum supports Romney is the day I move on, as obviously this is no longer a place for conservatives - just yet another place for group think and trading values for expediency.
I'm not voting for the lesser of two evils - that only begets even more evil.
