I forgot he played Loretta Lynn's father in Coal Miner's Daughter. One of my favorite scenes was the morning that Loretta's father died, and she heard him calling to her, then 'saw' him him coming across the land adjacent to where she and her husband were living. Just after that, she got the word that he had died.
