Some folks just cant take a hint.
House leaders, insisting this is no time to raise taxes on anyone for any reason, made sure that the budget that will be debated next week includes none of the governors proposed $260 million in tax hikes, including a 50-cent a pack hike in the cigarette tax.
But anti-smoking zealots have adopted a new strategy. According to interviews conducted by State House News Service, they will push for a $1.25 a pack hike not in the state budget (OK, lets give them credit for knowing a non-starter when they see one), but in a pending health care bill slated for consideration later this spring.

Just ban the production, distribution and consumption of the substance. It is and would be a lot cheaper and more available on the black market anyway.

New Zealand woman’s Coca-Cola habit cited in death
That headline is a “Tax-Shift”
Look for more stories like this - and the taxes....

I think we are already there.
Wanna save some REAL money?
Deny health care to a smoker. Either that, or triple their premiums.
This will be good news to the New Hampshire tobacco dealers. People from Mass will travel in ever larger droves to NH for their smokes, and we’ll rake in the dough.
NH dropped their tax .10 a pack last year. I haven’t bought smokes in Mass in over 3 years. Let them raise the tax $ 10.00 a pack! Welfare queens will have a tough time traveling to NH. Another wonderful lib tax hike.
