Just public window dressing to get him cozy with the voters in WV. He will vote for Obama.
Yup, you hit it on the head. Manchin’s two-year fill-in is up and now he’s facing re-election for a full Senate term. WV is mostly conservative, and he wants six more years in office.
I would not be surprised if Manchin changes over to the GOP column in the future. The Dems are destroying the economy in WV. Their war on coal is raising the unemployment rate to high levels.
A state like WV is sufficiently rural and in “fly-over” country that for the Dems, they would not care if they lose their votes. Dems only like Ivy-league folks (or at least it seems that way). Manchin seems to be swimming upstream in the party of Obama.
Yeah, but his vote matters less than the doubt he's sowed with this statement.
