When you present your passport at teh border, the computers will flag you then, and you’ll be stopped.

Either that, you you can go out in the wilderness and cross into Canada without anyone knowing, It is a long border and I'm sure there are many, many points you can cross over easily as you can drive a car. I would not even have to pop my Blazer into 4 wheel drive. Of course, the point is, don't get caught. Here is an interesting YouTube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKp9F3VdQAU&feature=related

I got a huge laugh about his statement of hearing gunfire coming from the U.S. side. B-)

Or... You can crossover into Canada or Mexico and when you get caught, renounce U.S. Citizenship and then try crossing back into the U.S. as a illegal alien, you will get treated royally. B-P

Seriously, the tragedy is, we are becoming the "Evil Empire" here, something that I pondered as far back as 1983.

I used to think having Washington DC attacked by nuclear tipped ballistic missiles during the State of the Union Speech would be a disaster.

It’s looking more like an innovation.

You sound like my father. I'll be honest, the thought as crossed my mind. If it was Iran behind the deed, I don't know if we should take him and Iran out or buy him a "thank you" card, FTD flowers and a box of candy. B-P You know what is a true, true shame? To borrow from the late John Cigna of KDKA radio, "It is getting to the point where you end up rooting for one gang of crooks over another." B-(

Maybe John Titor was right after all where we'd end up in a second American Civil War between the rebel conservative/libertarian rural/suburbs vs the liberal cities where it got to the point to where the Russian and Red China nuke our cities in panic and the rebel are grateful to them for doing that. B-((
<,br> It's a real bummer that things can get so bad that we start thinking and talking like this. B-(

Just sent this to my Congressman. Feel free to cut and paste.

Dear Congressman Smith:

I write to oppose Senate Bill 1813, also known as MAP-21. After careful review of certain provisions, I must say I am horrified by this further incursion on our personal liberty. I refer, of course, to provisions for denial or revocation of passports of citizens who are delinquent on their taxes and to the “black box” provisions. Of course, everyone wants the government to be able to collect taxes and to promote vehicle safety. But, as laudable as any goal may be, where will Congress draw a line for liberty? Until recently, the phrase “inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” seemed to mean something on Capitol hill. Lately, I’m not so sure.

Please, join with others in Congress to vociferously oppose this bill at every turn, particularly with regard to those egregious deprivations of liberty I mentioned. I look forward to seeing your active involvement in this issue and to voting for you again as I have many times in the past.

Thank you,

Getting your passport now will not entirely fix the problem. The language is “deny or revoke” meaning they are not limited to denial of passport applications, but to revoke passports already issued, both before and after the legislation goes into effect.

Well, that narrows it to only a 2012-13-14 SUV to replace the current unit; no 2015s in any future purchases, it would appear.

Yeah, looks like I'll have to keep my 1999 Blazer. It has a black box but it is a data recorder where you have to plug it into a computer, not a radio transmitting device. Look like I have to keep that vehicle although I'd like to restore my 1977 Mercury Cougar and/or buy a 1985 Oldsmobile Ciera a friend is selling. I also have Mom's 2004 Hyundai Sonata as well.

Well, if you're an electronic hacker type, I'm a typical amateur radio nerd, you could always look for the 2015 black box and cut the wires to it and/or find a way to disable it.

Yes, I was at the Canadian border. By treaty, the whole length is kept clear, I think it’s 20 meters wide. There are virtual highways through the pines for foot traffic here and there.

It’s hard to get an illegal job in Canada and Mexico, though.

The way this proposal looks, you probably won’t know you have been flagged unless you do something major and willfully taxwise. You go to get on the plane at LAX to head to Argentina and pop, you are busted!

I wonder if a heavily-armed EPA/DOT G-men SWAT Team, in black fatigues, will show-up right after I do that? Yikes. I’ll buy 2014 or earlier, thankyouverymuch. Still have time.

As part of Senate Bill 1813 (known as MAP-21), Congress has inserted language that would oblige the Secretary of State to revoke or deny a passport to any U.S. citizen who the IRS Commissioner deems as having "seriously delinquent tax debt."
So, let me get this straight, Warren Buffet risks having his passport denied? Nah, not in a 'millyun years' ...

.For starters, in what may be one of the most depraved Big Brother moves on record, section 31406 of the bill makes it mandatory for "black box" event recorders to be installed in every new passenger vehicle starting with model year 2015.
Do they still include tire irons in the trunks of today's new cars?

I guess so but if they don't, I'll sell you one since I work at an auto parts store. B-)

Tag line: “Have we lost our republic?”

Yes. Both parties want to be dictators and maintain their positions, retirement, etc. I think they were threatened/bullied into compliance at the closed session of Congress on Mar. 12, 2008. GoldandSilverExchange.info/closed-door-session-of-congress.html

I feel like I must have fell through some sort of crack in the space-time continuum and ended up in a weird, parallel "Bizarro World."

If Iran did it, you’d feign outrage and waste them, and then say nice things over the smoking hole that was Persia.

John Titor makes reference to a guy who purports to be from the future, correct? I followed some of that on ATS forum. Not sure how much weight to give it, but it was certainly intriguing.

This isn’t new - the producers versus the consumers.

I was at a marketing workshop last week, and I was having a chat with him in the speaker’s lounge. He pointed out the folly of ‘casual friday’, play areas in companies, etc.

He said that all of that is fine until the margins tighten up, which they inevitably do.

One VERY BIG distinction he made was the ‘hobby labs’ that used to exist at 3M, HP, and Applied Materials. Those things were worth their weight in gold. The companies would fund ‘hobby labs’ and let folks come in during weekends, or stay after work and invent stuff.

Smart people, at one time, those companies.

Well, I am a bit dubious about the time traveller part, although I do think it is possible, I'd lie more proof. Failing that, I pretty much see it as a story put out by someone or a group that is made up on libertarian/conservative/religious (it seems like the story contains elements of all three) bent where it is a story written as a warning of what could happen if we continue on this path.

That which can be installed can be uninstalled.

I would expect that if the unit is uninstalled, the vehicle will become inoperable.

They're not going to let you get away that easily.
