Marseille, in the mid 50s, had a large muslim population living in the “French Morrocan” section. It was clean and pretty - imagine Casablanca - and out of bounds for those on my ship. I was in there, on shore patrol, to chase sailors out.
If that’s the case today, we need to move our people out. We don’t need an embassy in unfriendly territory. The hell with them.
Many parts of the Middle East had such places as well... then the Wahabbists came, and instead of fighting them, they slowly have taken over and radicalized and opressed most of that part of the world.
