Bond may be a refundable $150,000, but he can get that by handing over a non-refundable $15,000 to a bail bondsman. Fifteen grand isn’t anywhere close to what this trial will cost, warranting the pro bono treatment.
I expect very good lawyers will be fighting over who gets to represent him for free, so methinks the issue is moot.
