EPA: 2010 U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions Increased 3.2 Percent
By Rachel Bogart | Yahoo! Contributor Network – Mon, Apr 16, 2012

According to Reuters, the Environmental Protection Agency announced today that greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. increased 3.2 percent in 2010 over the previous year, most likely due to economic growth in the country and electricity demands during the stifling summer.

Here are some facts about greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. and steps being taken to reduce its emission levels.

* Fossil fuel combustion contributes to a major portion of greenhouse gas emissions and in 2010 it contributed about 5.4 billion tons out of the 6.8 billion tons of total greenhouse gas emissions, according to the EPA's "Trends in Greenhouse Gas Emissions" report.

* Methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, fluorocarbons, sulfur hexafluoride, and carbon dioxide are considered greenhouse gases, but carbon dioxide makes up nearly 84 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.

Wow! I’m scared. Now let me get this striaght. The total CO2 in the atmosphere is something like 1/3 of 1%. So what if it went up by .0035%. What’s the big deal? It’s been a long day, maybe my math is off a decimal or so, but honestly, in the grand scheme of things the increase in greenhouse gases is pidley.

Sorry, wrong. A 10% increase came from AF one, the rest of the country went down.

This is such BS.

EPA, prove to me that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, versus a substance that every plant on earth needs to stay alive!

EPA, please tell me the amount of Methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, fluorocarbons, sulfur hexafluoride were released into the atmosphere in say;

1900 when all ships, all trains, all power plants, most homes, most metal working industries burned coal as a fuel, or wood, or peat. Then show us the decreases in these gases as technology shifted, as all coal smokestacks were fitted with scrubbers, all autos were fitted with catalytic converters, and all transportation got away from coal.

We don’t need a 1000 page report, 5 or 10 will do!

Just wait until EPA learns that water vapor is the most dominant “greenhouse gas”.

No more boiled eggs; metering devices on tea kettles ... humidifiers outlawed ... vapor recovery systems installed on Old Faithful.
