Given that the electorate is largely pro-dog, Democrats are eager to remind voters this fall about Mitt Romney’s innovative canine transportation methods of the 1980s.

But it’s a dog-story-eat-dog-story world. So when the Republicans were reminded by the Daily Caller of a quote from Barack Obama’s own book, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance,” a Twitter feeding frenzy ensued.
In the passage, Obama is recalling meals he had in Indonesia, where he lived between the ages of 6 and 10:
“With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy).

At the end of the day, this won’t cost Obama a single vote. On the other hand many will view Romney’s stunt with the dog on top of the car as an adult lapse of judgement (me too). It will cost Romney some fringe voters.
Had the subject come up, I'm sure their take would have been "It just goes to show how EVIL BIG OIL screws the little guy!"
You underestimate the passion of the nutty PETA people. It might keep many of them home. That is a win considering they mostly vote communist.
Obama ate puppies between the age of 6-10 years of old when he lived in Indonesia. Most American kids didn’t eat puppies. Obama certainly doesn’t have much in common with the way most American kids were raised. How many puppies did he eat? Were all the puppies he ate “tough”, or were some cooked better? What breed of puppies, specifically, did he mostly eat? Does he regret eating puppies? Does he condemn the eating of puppies? These issues need to be investigated.
