How about I juxtapose it with the same Newt who described the Lautenberg ban on gun ownership for those convicted of misdemeanors as “a very reasonable position,” even after it was pointed out—repeatedly—that gun owners could, as a result of this ban, lose their gun rights forever for a shouting match in the home, and in many cases lose their rights without a jury trial? Or the same Newt whose leadership in the House led to the ‘Gun Free Zones’ act that allowed Columbine and Virginia Tech to happen? And where is he on the UN Small Arms Treaty? Damn quiet about that. Mouthy about a right to guns. Not so mouthy about how we’ll keep them loaded if the UN gets its way.
