Mitt Romney leads President Obama in the first Gallup national daily tracking poll.

Romney took 47 percent support from surveyed registered voters, while Obama took 45 in a poll conducted between April 11 and April 15. Romney's edge though is within the poll's three point margin of error.

Independents tipped the scale in favor of Romney, going for the former Massachusetts governor 45 percent to 39.

I’m with you, I wanted Palin, Cain, and Newt in that order. but at the end of the day I don’t care who it is as long as it isn’t obama.

that will depend on Romney choosing a solid conservative as veep.

There is the first issue. This will not work for Romney as well as it did for McCain. That is also assuming he would pick a Conservative.

Wow.

Gallup?

I didn't see this coming.

For the last year I've been upsetting people at Free Republic with my prediction that Obama would be easily reelected.

The way I look at it, Mittens declined to comment on the Zimmerman imbroglio. That set him apart - in a good way - from both Obama and Santorum (my guy until he dropped out), whose common stance was, essentially, "get a rope".

When Obama wins, the GOP-e will get the message!

The USA will get the message. It will be game, set, and match for the US of A. This country will be transformed by Obama and put on a path to permanent decline and destruction. Obamacare will be the last nail in the coffin of this country as the Left and the welfare state bankrupt the country. In the interim, they will strip and plunder DOD (Guns vs Butter) and increase taxes to keep the welfare state treading water for a little longer.

America will look like CA demographically and economically in the next 40 years. The Dems will be the permanent majority party and the vision and values of our Founders will be a distant memory save for a vestigal Constitution that no longer serves any real purpose. Obama will appoint two to three more justices to SCOTUS in the mold of Kagan and Sotomayor.

I guess that will serve the GOP Establishment right. In fact, maybe you should work hard to get Obama reelected to ensure that the message is sent.

You know, this whole whinning and lamentations over Romney reminds me of a scene from a comedy. A guy is being stopped by police for some crime, and the guy essentially takes himself hostage pulls out his gun and shouts to the police, stop, or I’ll shoot myself!
Romney is bad, but hussein is worse. Like it or not, and I do not, there are only 2 choices. Hussein will transform this nation into a socialist dictatorship. It is much less likely that Romney would do the same thing. Those who believe that Romney would be more dangerous should make the case right here and vote for hussein.

I’m told here that Romney would be worse.

Vote for the more conservative candidate. Always. Even if the more conservative is not A conservative, vote for the more conservative.

See Post 26. Stay home, and there may not be an election in 2016.

Sarah was always my choice. all i know is we cannot afford 4 more years of this guy. After 4 more years there won’t be some glorious conservative march into power. we might win from the right at that point but after 4 more years what will be won? The right to slowly guide America into 3rd world status? The right to bargain with the rest of the world over our debt like Greece? The chance to finally restructure government benefits when the number getting aid and govt pensions combined will be over 60%? Hows that going to work? We may get in but it won’t be glorious.

Romney will be a stronger candidate then McCain was. If not for Sara Palin McCain would have lost by 20 percent.

“See Post 26. Stay home, and there may not be an election in 2016.”

Don’t over think this.
FR says: No Romney, no way.
Stay home, or write in.

Send the GOPe a message.

Fake poll to get Romney nominated.

We must hold their feet to the fire!

Already Dick Cheney is dead to me for his glowing endorsement.

IF Bachmann or Palin endorse Mitt, they must be removed from office or influence of the TP.

“When Obama wins, the GOP-e will get the message!”

Just like they did in 08?

Conservatives fit the Einstein’s definition of insanity.

Pushing, prodding, cajoling the GOP into conservatism is FAIL.

We need to start a new party.

Romney might be worse than Obama - I agree 100%

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT

There is also a chance, whether its 15% or 50% that Mittens will be bettern than Obama.

There is 0% chance Obama will be any better in a second term than we have seen in the last four years, and all signs point to far worse under Obama in a second term.

I am voting for ABO in november based on that chance, albeight small, that mittens will be better than Obama, not that I am convinced he will or wont be.

Does that make sense?
