More years ago than I will ever admit, I was enlisted in the Air Force and it was my understanding that outside of voting, we were to be involved politically. I would have assumed that included most any way - other than voting.

No, Service Member are allowed to volunteer for political organizations and attend rallies, but such actions a) can’t interfere with military duties, and b) can’t be done in uniform or in any sort of official capacity.

The Marine in question here blatantly stated on a public Facebook account that he would not obey Obama’s (the CinC) orders. He quickly clarified that to say “unlawful orders” but the damage was done.

I think an OTH discharge is WAAAAAY overkill, but I don’t know how the USMC works with regards to such infractions.
