I think the Romney campaign is the Rubicon for the RINOs.
They have spent decades saying they are the only ones who can win and they never win. Their Big Lie has to end in November or the Republican party will end.
The only third way is the way you are going, Fishtalk—the Tea Party.
When Romney loses, the Tea Party MUST incorporate as a for-real political party and by 2014 it MUST have its candidate picked and already running for 2016.
It's great to look ahead for a better day - and in past days I would have felt the same - but I fear you are far too optomistic.
If Romney loses (Obama wins), America is done for. I foresee there will be total economic disaster, widespread violence, and a violent breakup as the country goes into terminal collapse. China and others will march in to pick up the choice pieces - with the complicity of their Liberal friends who will be ruthless in their ongoing quest to hold on to power against their political and cultural enemies in the hinterlands.
If Romney should lose (God forbid) it will take decades for the country to climb out of the financial ruin and international chaos he will have created.
You can better help your cause by working for truly conservative congressional candidates.
Building on the Tea Party structure and membership makes sense, but it has an indelible stigma of being “racist”. Peoples ask me, “Aren’t they racists?” with no idea what charges lie behind that. Very effective job by media and Dems. Then, no one wants to be a part of a racist organization [e.g. Boy Scouts shrunk over the homophobia label], especially when Janet Napolitano is ready to put them on a watch or no fly list along with veterans, Christians etc. It is a mess. The libs had to pick another name “progressive” because we did a good job beating up on the L word.
