Oh man that is some story.

I am in the wrong line of work.

How was I to know I should have been born to Chicom parents in order to lead a luxury lifestyle?

Yes; and as for myself; have given up on my 'next life' MO. . .of being Chinese - and super rich. Clearly, not all it's cracked up to be/lol.

One of the ironies of the real-world application of marxism/socialism is that after the "dictatorship of the proletariat" is established, power and wealth eventually becomes concentrated back in the hands of a privileged elite which is functionally indistinguishable from a hereditary monarchy. They may use titles such as First Secretary of the Party, etc. but the power and wealth they acquire is passed on to their sons and daughters.

This article is actually only the "tip of the iceberg", as the saying goes, and gives only a rather superficial treatment and indication of what is actually a titanic political civil war and power struggle in China. Here are two discussions of this I recently encountered you might find interesting as well: In Praise of Chumps and Big Trouble in Big China
