Global Warming Dogma and the New Iron Triangle
The American Thinker ^ | April 15, 2012 | Norman Rogers, senior policy adviser at the Heartland Institute

Posted on 04/15/2012 1:01:01 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....The iron triangle of interests that promotes government support for global warming consists of big science, environmental organizations, and alternative energy industries.

... The climate science community is kept submissive by domineering leaders in positions of power. The president's science adviser, John Holdren, is a longtime environmental extremist and promoter of global warming hysteria. Thomas Karl, another strong advocate of the dogma, holds important positions. He is head of the National Climatic Data Center and chairman of the National Academy of Sciences Climate Research Committee. The levers of bureaucratic power are firmly under the control of warmers.

There are, however, incidents of rebellion. For example, a group of 49 former NASA employees, including astronauts, recently wrote a protest letter requesting that the agency stop blatant promotion of unscientific claims revolving around climate change and global warming....NASA, after all, is the home of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies headed by a true fanatic, James Hansen. Hansen considers coal trains to be death trains and wants to put the heads of energy companies on trial for crimes against humanity. He has been arrested for protesting in front of the White House. This from a high civil servant heading an important laboratory for climate research.

The problem that the warmers have is that the mania is rapidly losing steam....The failure of subsidized green companies, such as the solar panel company Solyndra, has made the public ever more skeptical. In order to keep the train on the tracks, the warmers will have to resort to more traditional paths to political influence. The iron triangle of scientists, environmental organizations, and subsidized industries will have to buy politicians to keep the subsidies flowing. The global warming movement will have to transform itself from an ideological movement into a special interest seeking government patronage.....

The global warming movement will have to transform itself from an ideological movement into a special interest seeking government patronage.

Isn’t it the great scandal of Solyndra that this is already a fact?

Didn’t the president of Solyndra funnel millions of dollars to Obama’s election campaign?

Wasn’t Obama bought and paid for by Solyndra?

Didn’t Obama ignore the advice of bureaucrats who’s job it is to determine the viability of companies to funnel government money to Solyndra. and didn’t Obama ignore the law that states that the government gets first priority in bankruptcy of companies accepting government lone guarantees to protect his Solyndra buddies who contributed to his campaign.

I Obama wasn’t bought he was certainly rented.

[. . .Goddard Institute for Space Studies headed by a true fanatic, James Hansen. Hansen considers coal trains to be death trains. . .]

In violation of the Hatch Act, NASA employee Hansen openly supported presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004 while trashing Bush. He is an anarchist and a fruitcake.

Obama is doing this all over the place.

Elon Musk of “Solar City, Tesla Motors, SpaceX” is receiving hundreds of millions of our tax dollars.

Products?????????

Contributions to Obama - YES — as well as an inaugural bash held with Ariana Huffington.

Although the global warming mania is losing steam, this is a slow process that could take years. Totalitarian regimes that hold on to power through fear and reward seem impregnable until they aren't. They are subject to sudden collapse when the mass of people stop being afraid.

We may be near a tipping point -- and I don't mean a climate tipping point.

[Obama is doing this all over the place.]

A Standard & Poor’s analysis and the congressional investigation reveal the Department of Energy went out of its way to choose “green” companies that were hopelessly in debt and failing.

According to a 1-15-12 story in NEW AMERICAN:

[First Solar, a manufacturer of thin film solar panels — and flagrant Washington lobbyer — secured a whopping $3 billion in federal loan guarantees, the most of any recipient. “First Solar spent $2.2 million on lobbying in Washington since 2007 and representatives met Obama administration officials before winning the aid,” Bloomberg reported last month. “In California, the company gave $150,000 to campaigns last year, more than triple the $38,750 donated by BP Plc’s North America unit, according to the secretary of state’s office.”. . .The result? The company was the worst performer in the S&P 500 index in 2011 after plunging 73 percent in New York trading through December 23.]

From a criminal justice standpoint it appears that DOE money—by the billions—is being funneled into these companies then siphoned off using the chaos of corporate collapse and bankruptcy as a smoke screen.

Much of the “Stimulus” money ends up in dubious projects so numerous they are difficult to monitor and audit. Much of the money when it reaches the state or municipal level is diverted somewhere else.

There's nothing enigmatic about Obama and his administration. It is organized crime at the highest magnitude.

Talking heads and pundits are dropping the phony baloney term “disingenuous” when speaking of the Obama mob. But they can’t seem to make themselves go much further.
