One of my earliest record buys (a 45RPM, of course) was ‘New York Mining Disaster 1941’. It was the first I heard of them, but then they followed with a string of hits before kind of fading by the mid-’70s. ‘Saturday Night Fever’ brought them back to the top with a vengeance. A lot of terrific songs. Everything they touched turned to gold. Here’s a treat from the late ‘60s.
