They’re seeking to pit women against men, the rich against the poor/middle class (in Dem-speak, that’s unions), and, I think, blacks against whites.

Simple, the storyline will be that Romney USED to support Gay Marriage, but since becoming the Presidential nominee he betrayed the Gay people. This has two effects, further disenfranchisement of Conservatives who may hold their noses and vote for Romney and it will drive away gay folk who considered voting for Romney due to his previous pro-gay pos9itions that the MSM has made to look like he has “betrayed’ them.

Had same thought as this last caller: Obama machine declares war on welfare moms.
To your point: I think what backfired was that Rosen’s comments were designed to create class envy, and separate wealthy Ann Romney from working-class moms; i.e., SHE could afford not to work; the rest of working-mom women can’t.
Obama machine always tries to kill as many birds with one stone as possible. This attempt backfired royally.
Like his last election, Obama needs independent/mod Dem women’s vote. He is afraid Ann is too popular and will get that vote, and he is trying to find a way to separate her from that large demographic.
