Political reporters all of whom are history nerds at heart spend countless hours trying to figure out which past election the current elections most reminds them of.
Its part parlor game you usually win when you compare the current election to the most obscure election of the past possible (this reminds me of the 1876 election between Samuel Tilden and Rutherford B. Hayes) and part useful political analysis. While no two elections are ever exactly the same, there are elections whose dynamics clearly resemble one another and where studying what happened can help you understand what will happen...

I like you do not like Romney BUT to compare him to Kerry is insane.
Romney is a self made millionaire. Kerry is a traitorous moocher.
Hmmm, I think we have to look at this conundrum from a different angle. (If you look at my previous anti-Romney posts you will see I agree with you.)
1. Romney is a self-made millionaire.
2. Romney is an excellent family man (large family, stuck by his wife through good and bad unlike Edwards and Newt).
3. Understands the free market (although he cannot explain it adequately which ticks me off)
4. Having Romney as POTUS is not nearly AS scary as having President DumbA$$ (aka America's President Mugabe) at the helm for the next 4 years thereby growing the deficit by another $5 Trillion.
I think both our JRTs would make better POTUS but they are not running.
What's going to decide this election (If Romney is 'our' guy) is self-respect. I cannot vote for a man who tells me he was ALWAYS a Reagan conservative and a pro-lifer and everything else he claims when it's well known that he's taken every side of every issue based only on winning an election (A LA John Kerry).
I cannot vote for a man who lies to me for my vote.
Good for you, your self-respect and good for Obama. He will love your non-vote.
I hope you don’t take my reply as nasty.
But it is something we conservatives have to at least consider carefully.
