Neither impress me as the least bit honest. Romney is a liberal, and Newt is a pure opportunist.
But the pro-Romney primary voters pretty much stuck with him, as the ABBMR primary voters split the vote and shifted from candidate to candidate. But more recently more and more Republicans jumped on the Romney bandwagon scared (legitimately so) that the extended primary was helping Obama.
I predicted that Romney would win the mid-North Alantic Coast liberal states(primary) and was correct. They were enthused about McCain too,
After Reagan, the GOP went back to republican politics. The Newt Congress victory was a Republican victory because Newt is a republican and is just paying lip service to conservatives to get a following.
What has he done in the last 18 years that is conservative? Plopping down on the couch for Cap & Trade with San Fran Nan, declaring the day of Reagan conservatism over?
Gingrich was by far not the first choice, he was settled upon and pumped up around here as something he never was and would not be if he could get elected. All a person has to do is go back about a year ago. He was deemed a big ole RINO by people on FR. Truth is, he was being your typical GOP politician at the time. He has had to put a hold on his Global Warming book to hide what he really believes. How disingenuous is that?
The closest we came in this race to a conservative was Michele Bachmann who was deemed to intense, whiny, and she wasn't Miss Sarah. Cain? who really knows how conservative he is. Perry? He couldn't keep it together from day one. He acted like he was running for Governor of Texas. St Rick? He could have beaten Romney, but Newt's ego was in the way and St Rick just talked about uterine matters.
And people are all bummed out because they are getting Romney?
You could see the train wreck coming at us at record speed.
Now it is all over but the crying and whining.
