Nobama, like you, I've worked on losing campaigns before and I've got a pretty good idea how you felt after Florida. I started to write something earlier this morning, deleted it, and now after coming back and seeing the responses to you, I believe something needs to be said.

Look, I understand hope is not a strategy. Without concrete plans, good intentions are useless. I really do realize how slim the chances are of winning at this point.

Also, unlike some conservatives, I understand the value of political experience, and that goes for both the candidates and the campaign staff. We can trade backgrounds but that's not important now; let's just say I think we have a lot in common with political history.

However, there comes a time that convictions trump math. The chances are slim, but a slim chance is better than no chance.

What counts is we've got a disaster coming down the road headed straight at us if Romney is nominated. I believe we're going to have another 2008 with McCain or 1996 with Dole, and possibly far worse because both of those men had decades of “time in the chair” dealing with conservative leaders in Congress. We knew what we were getting with Dole and McCain, and they had a solid record on at least some issues. As bad as McCain was, he didn't have a history of being “pro-choice” on abortion, supporting homosexual marriage, and appointing liberal judges in his own state.

I understand why a Gingrich campaign at this point may seem like tilting at windmills. I sincerely believe at this point, a Romney nomination nearly ensures Obama’s re-election, and the unlikely possibility of a Romney win means we will have a Republican who is more liberal than any Republican president we've had since at least Gerald Ford — except that being from Grand Rapids, I think even Ford was better than Romney because of Ford's anticommunism and support for the military.

I want to do whatever I can to stop Romney and Obama. The stakes really are that high.

Even if you need to do that as an unpaid volunteer, please rejoin the fight to deny Romney the nomination by supporting Gingrich. Political experience is valuable, and at this point even untrained “warm bodies” can be helpful.

I'm not a defeatist. Let's get back to the fight.

Thanks! I’ve actually gone back and helped in Georgia...not much, just coordinated volunteers and helped set up rally spots and etc. I didn’t take pay and spent whatever savings I had left.

Apparently it wasn’t enough to some of the other people here.

I understand the anger of a Romney nominee. I’m not exactly happy about it either. I think some posters here forget that we have the same goal- to get Obama out of office. I don’t even disagree that Romney is a bad candidate. But at the point when it’s time to vote, I’m not voting Obama or third party....so who is left?!
