Some people simply aren’t getting it, that a Romney election would truly move us back, not forward.

The GOP has engineered a remarkable lose-lose situation here. Obama wins, we lose because we have four more years of his socialist policies.

Romney wins? We lose, through his failed policies and confused governing - probably lose the WH after four years and many more disaffected voters who vow never to vote GOP again after seeing what they got with Romney.

All of these “lesser of two evils” voters aren’t looking very far ahead. A Romney win might easily be the GREATER of two evils, given the damage and disrespect it could attach to the party.

Also: voting third party DOES make a difference. It builds strength and lends political capital to an emerging movement. I don’t know which should be our choice, exactly, but strategically placed votes can make a difference at a bargaining table later.

A vote for a third party is not a “vote for Obama,” it’s a vote for a third party.

Agreed. But in order to make an impact with that protest vote, we have to have a sufficient volume of people coalescing around the third party ... or it will go unnoticed. We need name recognition whether that be an individual, or a party, or "NUTS!" if need be. And we need a fair number of people committed to following through with it. I wager we'll all wait to see what rolls out for a bit yet. We have the possibility of a contested convention and an independent candidate appearing on the scene. But the time to define a solid contingency plan is decidedly now.
