HA! I think you may have told me that before. Epic.
It must have been during the gearup to the QB independence referendum.
Canada could well do without them. France, only with 100 times more snow!
This was in 1991. Still, it’s a beautiful province and no American state equals it in both its natural features & architecture. I hope to visit it again before long...
Montreal island looks nice in pictures. The politics though makes Vermont seem right-wing so I wish they would have gone independent.
When I was a teen my family went to the D-town area, business trip for my mom, and my dad took my brothers across to Canada. I wanted to stay home so I did. Cause of limited resemblance to dad the border people questioned my brothers before they let them in.
I regret not going and adding MI and ON to my “visited” list. I’ve got 14 states including Alaska (was a baby don’t remember). Oh wait 15, cause my mom told me recently that she went to Ohio once while preg with me, so I’m counting it.
Mexico (trip to Cancun, was in 2 Mex states) is my only foreign country. I wish I had $$$ to travel. I love looking at maps.
Although Montreal was on my list of stops to see, we weren’t able to, but we did technically drive through it, the traffic was horrendous. They drive like Europeans, very fast and tightly clustered (my father was driving — almost white knuckle).
Speaking of VT, if that f’tard Governor of theirs had been killed by those bears he was so stupidly trying to “shoo” away, a Republican would be back in charge (who slipped under the radar to succeed Lt Gov Brian Dubie, who ought to be the Guv now).
Too bad you and your brothers didn’t have a bit of fun at the border... tell the border agents (with fake heavy accents of unknown Eastern European/Middle Eastern origin), “We’re here to buy your women... how much for the women ?... how much for the leeetle girls ?” ;-D
You should put up the graphic of the states you’ve visited, use the one on my page which links to the website and personalizes it for you. How did you manage to get to Alaska as a baby ? Frustratingly, despite being within eyesight of it (just a couple of miles from it, exiting Quebec, I’ve never set foot in Vermont).
I have been in Mexico, to Mexico City (but not since 1976 when I was a kid) and some of the border states (Sonora & Baja California Norte). I willfully passed on my father’s bright idea to drive into Ciudad Juarez (this a year after Quebec in 1992). Although there were no problems, I doubt I’d feel safe going back to the little town on the Sonoran border of Agua Prieta (opposite Douglas, AZ, near Tombstone) or Tijuana (the day we were in Tijuana was when the Rodney King verdict riots erupted up in L.A. and we didn’t know until going to dinner late in the evening — it forced the remainder of our trip to be altered, since we couldn’t go to L.A., and I still haven’t been since).
My parents took a cruise to Alaska when I was a baby, took me with. Unless mom put me down to crawl when they stopped on land, which is unlikey, I never “set foot” on Alaskan soil but I was there.
That’s also why I was in California, stopover in the airport (and again during a trip to Hawaii).
I’ll put up that map, I haven’t even looked at my FR page in while.
“Were here to buy your women..”
Ah, haven’t seen that movie in a long time. Think those hosers would have had a sense of humor? ;p
