It was about her foundation’s new “NoControversy” initiative to promote universal access to contraception.

I agree with her. Congress should make a law establishing Target Megastores in every community, and should pass a law making contraception available for, lets say, $9 a month.

OK, I'm being cute. Her issues with her church are beside the point. Contraception is already universally available in the US. OK, in the Obama economy some people might not be able to afford the 9 bucks, but thats another issue.

I can’t see any reason the bishop’s shouldn’t publicly confirm a public Catholic has nixed themselves by their own actions. There is a teaching aspect to discipline. You can’t teach without discipline. By not confirming it, they simply send the message that despite what they teach on the matter, it must not really be too big a deal when you get right down to it. Any sane first grade teacher could tell them that.

What % of Catholics have ever heard the term “latae sententiae” much less what it means?

On Holy Thursday Melinda Gates publicly professed her Catholic faith and then personally attacked her Church over its position on contraception professed her turning away from said faith.

There ... I fixed it.

“They should not even be allowed to enter the Church building until they REPENT!”

Excommunicated people are still required to attend Church and hear the gospel, to my understanding.

Bingo! Go to the head of the class, have a Guinness!

It’s not really about “availability” of contraception for college girls who want to screw around ... it’s about forceably preventing “those people,” you know what we mean, from having children ... for their own good, of course.
