I fail to see how either “following” (as some on FR claim) Martin, or even getting out of his vehicle to get a street address (as others have said) for the responding officers qualifies as “imminently dangerous” or “evincing a depraved mind” in this case.

The "imminently dangerous" act was shooting Martin.

Not to sound smarmy or sarcastic, but is that a legal interpretation or an opinion?

IANAL, but as evidenced on the many threads on this subject, folks like to speculate a lot and I’m not into that.
