This story will be updated as new events unfold

•Zimmerman's attorneys announced they have stepped down and are no longer representing him
•Attorneys say Zimmerman has not stayed in contact with them, scheduled media appearance with Sean Hannity on his own
•"It's no so much that we are resigning. It's that we cannot continue to represent him until he comes forward," said attorney Craig Sonner
•"He's got to reach out to us," Uhrig said

Despite stepping away from Zimmerman as a client, both attorneys say they continue to believe he acted in self-defense. "We frankly believe the correct decision will be to not charge him," Uhrig said.

The attorneys say they know of Zimmerman's location and have his personal phone number but have been unable to reach him directly for 48 hours.

"George can't go out and buy a Diet Coke. There's a bounty on his head," Uhrig said.

Maybe the attorneys have been threatened-or their families.

Crossed my mind as well with similar scent of selfish opportunism result, but I’m addressing Zimmerman, and what I think he should do for himself, and his family.

He should shut up, lay low, and stick with the professionals.

Did GZ retain/sign on those two attorneys as “legal counsel?”

He should lawyer up...why would he not stay in contact with his team?

Please tell me he isn’t so stupid as to think he can do this on his own...I hope something fishy isn’t going on.

He should stay with his attorneys, and keep his mouth shut.

What kind of an attorney is it that would find it necessary to reveal to the MSM that he's not going to represent his client anymore? Whatever happened to attorney - client confidentiality?

This guy sounds like a cheap slimeball hoping to get his own 15 minutes of fame..........

See post #42.

“According to Uhrig, Zimmerman had characterized the lawyers working for him as “legal advisors,” not his attorneys.”

Think that may be the problem...Or maybe they wanted some form of payment that he wasn’t comfortable with. Someone mentioned signing over a percentage of royalties on book, movie etc.

Were they harrassing him. Why would they need to keep in contact. They know his statements. Nothing has changed or is changing.

Another couple of shysters?

He need reputable representation.

Hi maggs..trust you and your son had a Happy and Jyous Easter.

There's also another possible angle/reason..the financial arrangements...It's gonna cost BIG BUCK$$$$ to defend Zimmerman..he doesn't have that kind of money..so these lawyers may well have asked him to sign away any book or movie rights...or any proceeds freom a lawsuit against NBC..

Remember the whole Casey Anthony fiasco?..where here sleazy lawyer took the case is return for a BIG piece of future movie deal, interview payments, etc. That was OK for the lawyer..even if he got bupkus from it in the end, he got a huge amount of publicity..FREE..and I expect it helped him with his practice..

This case is way different. Anyone who defends Zimmerman is guilty by association in tghe eyes of the left, especially the black community...and hey..let's be honest..that's where the biggest pool of prospective clients is for criminal defense attys.

Speaking of Casey Anthony..anyone see what happened to the lawsuit by the woman whose name Casey used..she made uip the name, and it turned out to be a real person..said she took care of the kid..I think Morgan and Morgan was representing her..

To: I cannot think of a name

This is driving me a little crazy. The suggestion that hispanics will defend him simply because he is hispanic. They do not do that. They defend people they think innocent no matter their ethnic heritage. If they are pink or purple. They do not think as a “herd”...they are individuals. Some think him innocent I am sure, many think he is guilty. Do we defend all anglo saxons??? Because they are anglo saxons?? Of course not. We are all individuals.

I agree with you. Why not contact a credible journalist? Why Hannity?? One of the worst choices he could make.

Dropping a client is not “criminal”. Attys do it all the time. Most attys would have done the same with a client who is acting like this. They did nothing wrong.

Because oftentimes listening to your attorney is the difference between getting charged and not getting charged.

Most people convict themselves based on their statements to police.

Exactly. And that's especially true in a case like this, where Zimmerman clearly committed the act (e.g., killing Martin), and is only free because he is asserting a self-defense argument.

Zimmerman could be convicted based on a single wrong statement to the police - if, for instance, he said something that indicated that (a) he started the fight, (b) he "provoked" the fight, OR (c) he did not actually fear for his life. If Zimmerman were to be interrogated without counsel present, I'd be surprised if he didn't say something like that.

The black racists are going nutty on Twitter now calling for the arrest of Sean Hannity. MSM and Team Obama sending their minions out to start a race war.
