Christie: Nation of couch potatoes By: Darius Dixon April 10, 2012 12:01 PM EDT
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday that the U.S. is turning into a paternalistic entitlement society that will bankrupt the country financially and morally because well have a bunch of people sittin on a couch waiting for their next government check.
Ive never seen a less optimistic time in my lifetime in this country and people wonder why, the first-term Republican governor said at the Bush Institute Conference on Taxes and Economic Growth in New York City.
I think its really simple. Its because governments now telling them stop dreaming, stop striving, well take care of you. Were turning into a paternalistic entitlement society, he said.
That will not just bankrupt us financially, it will bankrupt us morally because when the American people no longer believe that this a place where only their willingness to work hard determines their success in life then well have a bunch of people sittin on a couch waiting for their next government check, Christie said.

Much of the blame, Christie said, falls at the feet of politicians at all levels of government who are too eager to please voters.
Im not looking to be loved. You see, I think politicians get themselves into the biggest trouble when they care more about being loved than being respected. Thats why we run up these deficits we run up. Thats why we cant say no to anything. Because we care too much about being loved. Im loved enough at home, believe me on occasion, he said.

If there’s one thing he knows, its his couches.
That’s rich. Chris “Crispy Creme” Christie talking about “couch potatoes” (with or without an ‘e’?).
I see he knows my neighbors up the street.
Before Obama was immaculated he was an electrician and she worked in a home improvement store.
Now they sit around watching television and cashing gubbermint checks.
Let’s see, how does that go?
hmmm, something like this...
“...people, who live glass houses, shouldn’t throw stones...”
Fat boy has a body image problem. He thinks he is too thin?
I think he is referencing the lazy part. One can be a couch potato and be thin. Or one can be fat and yet be very active.
This RINO lard azz calling anyone a coach potato is funny.
It looks like Christie’s speaking the truth. Just look at even the responses here, of our supposed conservatives, over it.
All just attack the messenger. Which usually means they cannot attack the message.
All trying to discredit the message.
I thought I had stumbled onto the Democratic Underground when I first started to see the responses.
Christie is spot on on this subject. 53% of everyone is paying for 47% of everyone. This is a highway to hell.
Not So, I have a very nice recliner, a huge TV, universal remote and a tray for the popcorn. Further, my check is automatically deposited so I can use my card from the recliner to spend it.
Some just call him Governor Crisco.
Someone said, “I just don’t like what comes out of his mouth (off the cuff remarks, ad libs, asides, etc.)”
I replied, “That’s not the problem, it’s what goes INTO his mouth!”
A coworker asked, “Is Christie running for VP?”
I said, “Do you really want to see Chris Christie RUNNING? (Crash! Crash! Crash! Crash!)
;^)
Greta was teasing this like mad....”You don’t want to miss hearing this”....”Christie always speaks his mind with absolutely no sugar coating whatsoever” and on and on, and then when I finally see the clip, I’m like “What? What was controversial about that?”
THAT’s funny!
