He's suspending the campaign, not the presidential race. One and the same practically speaking. The only difference is in the FEC laws over the disposition of the remaining campaign funds.
Technically, Herman Cain only suspended his campaign, too.

I think Santorum suspending his campaign is way more than Bella's health. If he thought he had a Chinamen’s chance of winning the GOP candidacy he would've stayed in. He's polling here in PA and mathematically just couldn't pull it off.
