I don’t think I’ve related this particular Santorum story before (living in Western PA I have a few of them).
The first time I ever saw him in person was about 13-14 years ago, and it was not at a campaign event.
A friend of mine was heavily involved in the pro-life movement, and invited me to a luncheon at a local college, for which the keynote speaker was Karen Santorum.
Rick, at the time a sitting U.S. Senator, was there, but not to share the speaker’s platform. He was in the lobby pushing the baby carriage containing their most recently born child, and looking after the rest of the children.
To tell the truth, my opinion of him as a Presidential candidate was mixed, but I always admired his devotion to his wife and children.
