There was a similar reaction here in Pittsburgh a few years back when Rush chose to leave the venerable KDKA and go to the new FM News Talk 104.7.

Absolutely the right move in hindsight. 104.7 is a consistently solid performer with Quinn and Rose, Beck, Hannity and Savage. KDKA at this stage has been reduced to “Tradio” and “Ask The Veterinarian”. People much younger than me can’t even find AM on their dials anymore.

AM radio is practically dead.

Ironically, it was Rush and talk radio that helped rescue it from total extinction back in the late 80s.

I want to return to this, fits right in now as Rush speaks;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workhouse
Patrick Colquhoun, 1806
Poverty ... is a most necessary and indispensable ingredient in society, without which nations and communities could not exist in a state of civilisation. It is the lot of man – it is the source of wealth, since without poverty there would be no labour, and without labour there could be no riches, no refinement, no comfort, and no benefit to those who may be possessed of wealth.

Because of the United States' Constitution, individuals are more able to develop a skill or talent and escape the "lot of man", Poverty. I am sure Rush teaches this during his program, but it took me a couple of days to ponder what Patrick Colquhoun meant,

Your fate will likely be the "lot of man"(poverty) unless you somehow distinguish yourself and find labour to improve your "lot".
Ruth Bader Ginsberg telling the Egyptians not to use our Constitution comes to mind.
Our Constitution not being praised by the Democrats leaders here, to these new emerging Countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, such as "they can choose whatever government they want" as if Theocracy was Okay by them.
