Appearing on the Steve Gill Show on Radio America Monday morning, former presidential candidate and pizza mogul Herman Cain said Florida Rep. Allen West should be Mitt Romneys pick for vice president.
Heres why: he is well spoken. He is direct. People in Florida love him. He has a huge following. He is from Florida Florida is going to be one of those key states, Cain said. But more importantly, Col. Allen West is a dedicated patriot; he served in the military, and hes willing to serve his country some more.
Now I know that there might be some push back on his part because hes just in his first term as a United States congressman, Cain went on, but my advice to him, if he were to ask me, is you served your country well, and now you have a higher calling, and I would strongly recommend that he consider it, depending on any personal consideration that he might have.
Cain is not the first major Republican figure to put Wests name forward for the VP slot. Earlier this month, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said West was at the top of her list for possible GOP vice presidential candidates.

Allen West would be a president like George Washington. Honor.
West as VP would make me happy, and I am not happy with a Romney nomination.
Would be very pleased if AW were selected.
I like the way Sarah & Herman think.
I could vote for that.
I like Allen West too! Would have preferred him for president, not VP.
Maybe he could run against the RINO after 4 years. He would truly be a leader of our military!
I continue to think that Romney will ask Rubio, and he'll accept---despite the citizenship controversy. I trust Rubio about as much as Romney, and would vote for that ticket reluctantly.
I like Allen West. But he has his own re election to worry about this fall.
I would hate to see him lose his election because he became the VP nominee and lost in the general election.
Hopefully a Romney/West ticket would stop the wasted bandwidth here on FR preaching to the choir that Romney is not the ideal nominee.
His day will come. It would be an honor to vote for him.
I like Allen, have given to his campaign more than once, but I will be VERY SURPRISED if that will happen.
West for VP? Is that to offset the fact that the nominee (Romeny) attends an even more racist church than the Jeremiah Wright Church of hate all the white people? What a pathetic joke. I don’t ever want to hear another of these talk show blowhards lecture me and yell and scream at me about LIBERTY. When you nominate someone who believes in Liberty then I’ll tune in again.
(Romney: Oh I agree with Obama. Women need to be in Augusta. Please, please please. See how moderate I am? Vote proudly for pablum and mush VOTE ROMNEY
I would be pleased and proud to have Alan West as our first black American president.
Never happen. Milt will pick a “safe” candidate.
This is the 2nd time they have given us an absolute dolt, and then try to appease the base ( now the Tea Party ) with a rock ribbed Conservative VP. If they gave us a Conservative from square one maybe we wouldn't be so pissed off!
So they think they can make us happy with West, really? Didn't work for ya when ya went with Sarah now did it, heck you did everything in your power to destroy her, and after Romney gets his head handed to him they will do the same to Col West...
West does not have the political experience to be VP. The VP must be an attack dog for the Administration. West is not an attack dog.
West does NOT yet have reliable conservative credentials. His early support of the Debt Ceiling increase was not a conservative stand. He caved early.
West may yet show himself to be a strong conservative, or just another RINO.
Recall that Jimmy Carter was a good sailor. So was LBJ, as were many other Liberal politicians. Don’t let West’s fine military service blind you to his potentially poor political skills. And, a uniform is no guarantee of conservatism.
I like West, but I’m not sure that an association with Romney would be good for his career. Not that it’s likely to matter, since I doubt Romney would choose him.
Is this a matter of who's supposed to TRY to save the Titanic Romney?
