The San Francisco bicyclist involved in a fatal collision with a San Bruno man could face criminal charges, and his flippant early account of the tragedy may not help his case in a city where bikes, cars and pedestrians must increasingly coexist.
Chris Bucchere collided in a Castro crosswalk March 29 with 71-year-old Sutchi Hui, who ultimately died Wednesday at San Francisco General Hospital.
In an online missive posted just hours after the crash, Bucchere expressed little remorse for his behavior. His irreverent account focused instead on his broken helmet, his own relatively minor injuries and the police seizure of his bike.
It was commuter hour and it was crowded as all getup, Bucchere wrote. I couldnt see a line through the crowd and I couldnt stop, so I laid it down and just plowed through the crowded crosswalk in the least-populated place I could find.
Bucchere did express hope that Hui ends up OK, but he spent far more energy praising his own headgear.

There’s a Chris Bucchere in SF whose got a lot of web presence as a software developer and web architect. If it’s the same guy, the victim’s lawyers will be circling him like sharks.
“According to the liberal progressive moonbeam pecking order of protected groups in California, it is indeed, a hate crime.
Only if Bucchere was Black or Hispanic would it be impossible for him to commit a hate crime against an Asian.”
I’m not sure of the current list of which protected class trumps which other protected class. It changes depending on who screams the loudest and expresses “outrage.”
Yep they're unbelievably bad in SF.
SF is also the most family unfriendly city in the US, they have lost 60% of their population of children in the past 20 years.
Point!
He won't serve any time.
A.) California can't afford to put people in jail anymore and...
B.) They wouldn't want to discourage the use of "green" transportation.
Who in the world would want children in Pervert Paradise??
I say the same thing about the low birth rate in Japan, btw
Cue Jaws theme....
Something tells me if he was headed for a highway full of cars he would have found a way to stop. I remember when I was a teenager the brakes gave out my bike when I was going full speed downhill towards a roadway full of cars. Pulling myself and the bike to the ground while in motion and letting the left side of my body drag me to a stop with the damage to show for it did the trick.
Go look at section 21000 of the California Vehicle Code. Bicycles have the same rules as do motor vehicles when it comes to pedestrians. This guy is in for a manslaughter charge.
I was about to post: Real Track Bike.
A lot of people in DC use them. Some even have brakes and a free wheel. Lots of good stories about people who steal a real track bike.
But agreed on riding in those conditions.
too bad the pedestrians didn’t exact a just punishment at the scene.
SOUTH PARK EPISODE: SMUG
explains it all. They got this one right.
“You can’t use my Facebook comments against me in court! Facebook is, like, private!”
He is not obviously a democrat.
He is obviously a liberal.
Given it is San Fran, he could very easily be a socialist or communist party member.
Yep, you nailed him. All his stuff has been taken down including the following from his blog:
" The light turned yellow as I was approaching the intersection, but I was already way too committed to stop. The light turned red as I was cruising through the middle of the intersection and then, almost instantly, the southern crosswalk on Market and Castro filled up with people coming from both directions...I couldn't see a line through the crowd and I couldn't stop, so I laid it down and just plowed through the crowded crosswalk in the least-populated place I could find. I remember seeing a RIVER of blood on the asphalt, but it wasn't mine. I really hope he ends up OK."
Really quick pedestrians in SF are usually over seventy years old, and can "instantly" fill a crosswalk.
Some tracking app he was using says he was doing 35MPH.
I agree, but it's not likely to happen in San Francisco because he's in line with the far left progressive Marxists and the entire city government is as corrupt (to the left) as ya can get.

I've been cycling for 20 years...he's deserves the same legal scrutiny as someone driving a car.
