When I returned, I tried to tell people what I experienced and they all thought I was making things up. I decided I would keep it to myself, until this administration when I see things becoming more and more like it was there under the communists.
Still no one believes what they see in front of them every day.
They control our food, or clothing, our language, they encroach upon our religious practices, they don’t want us to read things, they talk about government in the sunshine while making citizens sue to disclose basic public information, and the list goes on and on.
Orwell saw the future, but what we are now realizing is that he was not looking ahead nearly so far as we all hoped.
No argument about freedom is heard, when there is a social program at stake, and there are no alternatives to our problems except the way of the hive. So many do not know what freedoms they are losing, and if they do, they don’t mind.
I mind. I care. I object.
I tend to listen to people like you. Some of the people who are most agitated about what they see happening are people who REALLY lived under tyranny, and know what it is all about.
We are spoiled, no doubt. We have had it good for a long, long time. We should listen to people like you.
