Over US mother, Islamist likely out of Egypt race

CAIRO (AP) -- Egypt's presidential election commission confirmed Thursday that the mother of a popular Islamist presidential hopeful was an American citizen, effectively disqualifying him from the race.

The announcement Thursday follows days of speculation about the candidacy of Hazem Abu Ismail, a 50-year-old ultraconservative lawyer turned preacher.

So, you have to be a natural born citizen to be eligible for the presidency in Egypt?

We should not just shrug this off... Would be good to check out Hazem. If he is a half-way decent conservative, perhaps negotiations between the US and Egypt could result in a presidential swap, so that our respective NBC requirements lined up. And, the cherry on top - the MB would be happy to get one of their own in office.

I'd agree to most any swap to get Barry out of the WH, but not this one. When the MSM calls an Islamic man ‘conservative’, they mean he is hardcore sharia. This looks like the “Obama clause” of SR 511.....

But that out clause wasn’t in the original one he agreed to while it was in committee and had Chertoff give his definition as well. He signed his name to the committee definition so he can’t get an out later.
