Republicans Brace For The Romney Pivot (Stabbed in the Back)
BuzzFeed ^ | April 5, 2012 | Ben Smith

Posted on 04/05/2012 9:52:00 AM PDT by C19fan

The moment will probably come in the early fall of 2012: Ultra-conservative House Republicans will draw a clear line in the sand, and Mitt Romney will have to choose whether to stand with them, or stand against them. Romney quieted conservative complaints last month by embracing Paul Ryan’s budget and its deep spending cuts. Now President Obama has already begun to cast the plan, and the candidate, as “radical.” Many conservatives are quietly resigned to the expectation that their candidate will betray them, likely in the fall as he pivots toward the center. And some Republican strategists are already urging Romney to make that public break with his party’s conservative Washington leaders, who are as unpopular with the broad electorate as they are beloved by the conservative base.

Will anybody be surprised when this happens? So much for the claims by Romneybots that conservative Congress can rein in Willard. Willard will be THE leader of the GOP and it will be him that will force the GOP Congress to tow his line.

How is this possible? I have been (written) yelled at, called names, mocked......or whatever
(yep on FR)
because I have said Romney is a fraud and not a conservative.

Romney is no different than BHO in governance.

Romney is now and has always been a liberal.

Is it who he is, it is what he does.

actually I don't care what people think of me, Romney is a stink'n liberal.

This is the reason that if Romney is the nominee, I will NOT vote for him.

I would rather have Obama who would clearly be in opposition to the House (and hopefully Senate) than Romney who will use the power of the Presidency and the GOP party to try and force his “Moderate” (Dem lite) policies on to the American people. If Romney is President, then the GOP will tear itself apart fighting conservatives in the House against the RINO president.

Clarity is better than Consensous and right now, on the issues that matter to me, there is very little difference between Obama and Romney.

Please, let us have a brokered convention and floor fight so we have a CHANCE at bringing a conservative both fiscal and social to the nomination and get the party motivated.

Everyone knows he will revert. If he does so, in a big way, prior to the election, he will have no chance of beating Obama.

It didn’t work with W. Bush and it will be even worse should Romney become President.

Sorry, I call it like I see it!

Romney plans to win by snapping up moderate democrats disillusioned by BO & to hell with the 'right wing'.

What he clearly doesn't understand is there is no such thing as a moderate democrat anymore. BO's constituency is bought and paid for.

Something Romney's secret admirers on FR apparently missed, as well.

This campaign team would be crazy to go moderate. The country has moved right, and virtually every election since 2009 is proof. The independents are sharing the opinions of the conservative movement. If Mitt moves left, Obama will move right on several issues like he did with McCain and he will win. Mitt only wins if he runs as a fairly conservative guy.

He’s campaigning for the GOP nomination right now... (must be conservative)

Then, he’ll campaign for the presidency... (must be moderate)

Then (if he wins), he’ll govern... (must get reelected)

Romney is the nominee.

Now people need to decide whether they're voting against Obama or for Obama.

That reality is here.

Obama isn't the enemy, the Democrat party isn't the enemy -- LIBERALISM is the enemy. Obama and Democrats are liberal, however, therefore a vote for either is a vote for the enemy. A vote for Romney is ALSO a vote for the enemy.

Chicken Littles shriek that we couldn't survive another four years of Obama. Yet there are so many dynamics at play, especially if conservatism grew more powerful in the Republican party in the next four years (highly probable if Obama won by a plurality), that we really can only guess at what four more years of Obama would bring.

On the other hand, it's certain that four years of Romney in the White House would make liberalism more powerful in both parties.

Voting for Romney is surrendering to liberalism out of fear, desperation, and panic. Fear, desperation, and panic have been making people do stupid things since the beginning of time. COURAGE is the path to victory; having the courage to reject surrendering our party to liberalism at the risk facing down Obama for the next four years, is the only chance we have at victory.

Really?

When did he jump from 600+ electoral votes to 1144?

I must have missed the state primary that added 400+ delegates to his delegate count.

How about you stuff your Romney support where the sun don't shine.

Yeah, especially since it would be so out of character for that lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Romney.

Ref post #3.

Willard Mitt Romney cannot become president of the U.S. because his father, George, was born a Mexican citizen and never became a U.S. citizen, ever, although he (George) managed to fake his way into becoming Governor of Mass.

Willard can no more become U.S. president than Panama Juan, the illegal cheeky Kenyan bastard, Rubio, or I. He is not a “natural born citizen” as the rest of us I just mentioned above.

Unless you folks start working on this in the U.S., you are going to find yourselves in equally bad trouble exchanging the bastard for Willard.

Read the following:

“MITT ROMNEY IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN!”

Wrong. Now people need to decide whether they're voting for surrendering the Republican party to liberalism, or voting to preserve the Republican party's brand as an antidote to liberalism.

Obama isn't the enemy -- liberalism is the enemy. A vote for Obama OR Romney is a vote for the enemy.

I hate Romney. He's a sleazebag hump.

But if you are still envisioning some scenario (barring assassination) where he is not the nominee, your ass is already filled with your head.

Reality is all around you. Take note.
