I'd say that the "lie" you mention is the least significant of the "lies" listed. Regardless, Santorum gave about 2% before his daughter was born and about 2% after she was born. Maybe it's just good old fashioned hypocrisy:
Bowyer does have a point when he says, Im not all for people who live in a house which is almost ten times the national average value (Santorum) saying they are too poor to give away a significant portion of their income. This is especially hard to take from someone who wears his religion so prominently on his sleeve, announcing in one of his speeches that we need a Jesus candidate with reference to his own candidacy.

I don't know that I'd call it hypocrisy. I don't’ believe I've heard Santorum criticize anybody else’s charitable giving. Plus if the author wants to make a point of it, we should be able to examine his life in detail. What's his house look like? What is his income/expenses/charitable giving? Doesn't show up in the piece though. I'll just have to take it on faith that he's qualified to make judgements on Santorum’s character because his is much better. He may be the hypocrite, but we'll never know.
