When given the choice between McCain and Romney, Santorum backed Romney as the clearly more conservative candidate. That's not the same as saying Santorum was a fan of Romney's, but it does suggest that claims he's more liberal than McCain aren't valid. At least, not in Santorum's eyes.

It’s funny how Romney is getting the 3rd degree for being a RINO when in fact, McCain was an uberRINO far beyond what Romney is. Romney 2012 is a better candidate than McCain 2008; it’s a low bar, I know, but it says something, and that something is that all this bluster about how bad Romney is, well, its hyperbole. we really are forgetting about how RINO-ish and doltish Ford, Dole and McCain were.
I live in Mississippi so my State will go for the republican without a doubt. I will vote down ballot for every Conservative running for office but romney... I would no more vote for that pos than I would any dim... by his own admission to Judy Woodruff in 2001... he is a dim in every way but party registration.
