Here in Cleveland, Ohio, we have what used to be called Liberty Blvd, in honor of our military. But during the filthy race riots in Cleveland, it was changed to MLK BLVD.

If anyone wanted to come from the northern freeway to the Cleveland Clinic, or Little Italy, or any of the cultural museums in that area, they had to drive down MLK.

What was especially rough was for the female nurses and other female medical personnel who’d get their car pinched into a box, and then they’d be robbed or raped or both.

Some punk would stand at the corner by a red light and see if there was a purse on the female’s car seat. Then the scumbag would signal ahead to his scumbag buddies who’d carjack the woman if she had to stop at the next light or smash her car windows to steal her purse.

I haven’t driven down that road in over 20 years and wouldn’t do it unless I had a least on in the chamber.

We’ve come a long way, huh?

Back in HS summers would find me employed as a helper to Coca Cola delivery drivers. The Hough area was a regular route. I'd wear my City of Parma t-shirt deliberately. My inner Chas B. kind of makes me want to do it again. It's the pause that refreshes.
