SAN ANTONIO- The man hit by a stray bullet while on the golf course Sunday afternoon says he was faced with a decision on whether to pull out the bullet that was lodged halfway in his chest.
Thirty one year old Justo Flores was recovering at home Monday afternoon 24 hours after he was struck by a stray bullet. He described how he could see the large bullet sticking out of his chest and the decision he was forced to make.
"I was like should I pull it out or shouldn't I pull it out because I was afraid if I pulled it out what would happen so I just left it in there, explained Flores.
While on the course he heard what he never thought would become part of his fate.
All day long I heard gun shots and I was thinking that sounds kind of close.
Those shots were believed to be coming from a nearby gun range. By the time Flores got to the 12th green the gun range was only a mile away from him. The same distance he says police told him the bullet came from.
According to Flores, The bullet traveled about a mile before it hit me, they (police) said".
Before the bullet hit him the noise got very, very close.
Flores said, I heard like whistling going by my ears at the top of my head and everything.
Seconds later while Flores had no idea what was going on his friend quickly alerted him that he had been hit.
He was told, Dude I think you just got hit by a stray bullet. I said there's no way, so I looked down at my shirt and I saw a hole with a little bit of smoke coming out.
Justo Flores was rushed to SAMCC where the bullet was removed. Hes left with a scar and soreness in his chest. And while he's thankful it wasn't much worse he hopes police find out soon who is at fault and how this happened.
That's the reason Texas prisons don't serve bone-in pork chops anymore. One prisoner stabbed another in the chest with a bone. The guard said not to pull it out but the guy did and died within seconds.
Not on the surface level of your chest skin. No arteries there.
No duct tape or crazy glue???
That’s why it’s a general rule. In this case we both woulda pulled it and finished the back 9.
So what do the rules of golf say? Does he have to play the shot over again when shot during taking a swing? Or does he just play out as long as the bullet is protruding and smoking?
If he is already smoking from the bullet, can he also have a cigar and smoke while playing?
Should the foursome behind play through, or duck?

Go to the ranges website to read their side of this - it wont make pleasant reading for pro-2A types, but nobody whos lived in SA since Chairman Julian got elected mayor will be much surprised (Rifle Range Legal Action under the Home link).
“He described how he could see the large bullet sticking out of his chest”
“there’s no doubt a stray .223-caliber round had to be removed from Flores sternum”
Yea, those .223 rounds are massive! I’m surprised he could still stand, due to the sheer weight of all that grainage in his chest.....
