‘When I was first introduced to Obama, he said: “Oh, you’re the gun guy.” ‘I responded: “Yes, I guess so.” “I don’t believe that people should be able to own guns,” Obama replied. I then suggested that it might be fun to have lunch and talk about that statement sometime. He simply grimaced and turned away, ending the conversation. That was the way numerous interactions with Obama went. “

John Richard Lott Jr. He spent five years as a visiting professor (1994–95) and as a fellow (1995–99) at the University of Chicago.

authored five books, including More Guns, Less Crime, The Bias Against Guns, and Freedomnomics.

Most people who are knowledgeable enjoy a hard discussion of their work.

With Obama not so much.

At this level of discussion it’s a sporting event.
In my opinion, if you cannot defend your proposal, you do not belong there.

Don’t forget that Kagan wants to turn Scalia her way.

That’s a good point. However, wherever true conservatism is understood and practiced, it *works*, because it’s not based on emotion, it’s based on *truth*. At its root truth is the law of God and His creation. Therefore conservatism appeals to those who “hunger and thirst after righteousness”. Most intelligent beings with integrity want to know the real *truth*. And liberalism is a false “truth”.

I really believe that.

Therefore I have faith that if either of them “turns” the other, it will be Scalia turning Kagan and not vice versa.

FRegards
