RE: Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s,

So, in the USA, what belongs to Caesar? If Caesar says 70% belongs to him, must Americans comply?

If we were the stupid ones that allowed it to happen. Either that or take up a sword and make some changes.

Due to increasing government growth taxation grows from a civic obligation into a crushing burden. Over time the citizen becomes a subject, then a slave, then a commodity. At what point does the weight of moral authority shift from the tax collector to the tax rebel. If we look at our own history our founding fathers put up with a lot less wealth confiscation than we currently suffer.

Is there anyone on the forum with the knowledge to compare colonial taxation burden against today's?

Caesar’s tax rate was a lot less than our current regime. Tax compliance is proportional to the respect for private property rights which includes the overall tax rate, government corruption, and stable rule of law. No surprise in which direction we are going here.
