Federal immigration officials continue to pursue deportation of President Obama’s uncle

Federal immigration officials are still pursuing the deportation of President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, to Kenya, officials said today.

The statement from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement came a week after Onyango Obama resolved drunken driving charges and a day after the state Registry of Motor Vehicles issued him a hardship driver’s license so he could get to his job as manager at two Metrowest liquor stores.

“Now that Mr. Onyango’s criminal case has completed, ICE has communicated, in accordance with standard procedure, with his attorney regarding his removal pursuant to a previous final order by an immigration judge,’’ Brian P. Hale, ICE director of public affairs.

Obama, who is the half-brother of the president’s late father, must appear at a meeting next week at ICE offices in Burlington to discuss his deportation, according to a person with direct knowledge of his case.

It is unclear whether he will ultimately be deported. Obama’s immigration lawyer has said in the past that he intends to fight it.

Obama was last ordered deported in 1992. But he never left. He arrived today at his house in Framingham carrying grocery bags and wearing a baseball cap. He rushed inside without comment.

Obama appeared last Tuesday in Framingham District Court and admitted that his blood alcohol level was 0.14 when he was arrested by Framingham Police Officer Val Krishtal on Aug. 24. A judge continued the case without a finding for one year, meaning it will be dismissed if Obama’s record stays clean.

In a statement today, Registry of Motor Vehicles spokeswoman Sara Lavoie said Obama appeared before RMV officials Monday and asked to be given a hardship license. His employer at Conti Liquors supported the request and filed a letter, stating that Obama manages Conti Liquors in Framingham and Five Star Liquors.

more from Boston Herald
>>President Obama’s illegal-alien uncle will be required to report to local immigration offices next week to discuss arrangements for his removal from the country, a source told the Herald.

The source, who requested anonymity, said Onyango Obama, 67, “will be required to report next week to Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Burlington to discuss, with immigration, arrangements to effectuate his departure from the U.S.” But those arrangements will not take effect immediately, the source said. “He’s not going to be deported next week,” the source said.

Perhaps Zero can write down all the names of his various ‘aunts’ and ‘uncles’ so we can find out how many are actually here and just deal with them all at one time?

Ain’t it funny how the ICE agent refers to the drunk uncle by his first name? He calls him Mr. Onyango instead of Mr. Obama.

It is like calling Richard Head ‘Mr. Richard’, which I seriously doubt would be done.

First, no one can use ‘Hussein’ and now no one can use ‘Obama’? What’s wid dat??!!

I must be going crazy or I need new glasses to help me understand the logic of why anyone would give a driver’s license to someone who is in the U.S. illegally, particularly after he was accused of driving under the influence so he could drive to work at a liquor store.

What’s the big rush? He’s been here illegally for 40 years. What’s a shame is we should have brought over his Auntie Sarah and the rest of the tribe and set them up in a nice apartments and monthly checks.

that’s going to be tougher now... since they just gave him a ‘hardship’ drivers license...
